This election in November has all the elements of a classic western showdown like High Noon. We have the good guy in a white hat representing democracy and the bad guy in the black hat representing the GOP. We don’t know the outcome yet, but we do know that one or the other is going to be defeated and likely die from his wounds.
If democracy loses, the GOP will move to restrict voting rights even further in the next four years so that they will be assured winners forever. If the GOP loses, the party is likely to split into at least two factions and may disappear entirely. In this election, the GOP appears intent on proving that they can elect anyone if given sufficient campaign funds.
Needless to say, that this election is critical in preserving democracy and the America we have known. My solution is to overwhelm the GOP with the number of our voters. The GOP is a minority and the one thing they cannot do is manufacture more voters.

Poor Mitt Romney. He has spent years and millions of dollars running for President. I would not want to be in his shoes. If he loses in November, he will be very disappointed. If he wins in November, he will be in way over his level of competence in war and peace and the economy.
Poor Mitt. Poor USA.

Usually a political party crafts a winning strategy by adopting policies that appeal to 50% + 1 of the electorate. This year the GOP is appealing only to its base which is a minority of the electorate. They plan to win in November by preventing voters likely to vote for the other party from casting a ballot. If the election is close, they will try to steal it. In order to defeat the GOP strategy, we must work harder than in 2008. We must register new voters, help them get to the polls, vote early if possible and volunteer as poll watchers. This election is too important to allow the GOP to regain power in Washington, DC.

In The Crook Factory, Dan Simmons put these words in Hemingway‘s mouth:
“‘So how would this confused mess in Cuba fit into your Mr. Hoover’s fear?’ said Hemingway. ‘People are motivated more by fear than any other emotion. Or at least that’s been my observation.'”
And that is how the GOP intends to win in November, by playing on people’s fears.
