Mitt Romney has vowed to restore the US economy by building new homes, for himself. Just a short distance downslope from his new Park City home, Mitt has filed building plans for a new 5900 square foot home in the Salt Lake City suburb of Holladay. Located only 29 miles from the home of Senator Mike Lee, or 20 miles as the vulture capitalist flies, the home will boast a secret room which Mitt will probably configure as a safe room to escape roving mobs with pitchforks. Good job, Mitt. Keep up the good work.

Mike just can’t tell the truth. He vows to fight on. Too bad he is in office until 2016.

“The Washington Establishment can’t bring itself to believe that this is why Congress has a poor approval rating – because Washington doesn’t listen to the American people.  It ignores them.  And when the American people can no longer be ignored, the administration shuts down national parks, blocks veterans from going to their own memorials, uses the IRS to target certain groups, and holds hostage critical funding for cancer research, low-income women and children, veterans’ health benefits, border security, and our National Guard.”

“Not a game”

According to John Boehner, the events happening in Washington, DC, now are “not a game.” He’s right about that; they are a tired, old movie that the GOP insist on re-running every few months. President Obama plays the part of Austin Powers while Ted Cruz is Dr. Evil, supported by a cast of villains including Utah’s own Mike Lee as Mini-Me. The ratings of the GOP drop every time the movie is run. Critics in the media divide the blame equally, but voters assign more blame to the GOP than to the Democrats. Just imagine how low the GOP ratings would fall if the media did their job and correctly assigned the blame to the GOP.

Tonight on Hannity, Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are promoting the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Ted Cruz labels it the biggest job killer in America. In truth, the biggest job killers in America are the Republicans, particularly the TEA Party Republicans, in Congress who refuse to stimulate the economy enough to fully recover from the Bush Great Recession. Mike and Ted, look in the mirror if you really want to see the biggest job killers in America. Earlier today, I received an email from Mike Lee rescheduling a telephone town hall, apparently so that he could appear on Hannity instead.

Against All Odds: My Life of Hardship, Fast Breaks, and Second Chances by Scott Brown. Recently Ted Cruz said that he would like an US Senate composed of 100 Jesse Helms. On the other hand, I would prefer to replace just three Senators, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz himself, with Senators like Scott Brown. In his book, Scott portrays himself as someone who thinks for himself and is not afraid to say what he thinks and works for the common good. With more Senators like him and replacing some of the more outspoken TEA Party members in the House, Congress would be a far more able body than it is now.

Scott Brown had a very difficult childhood, but he worked hard to overcome those difficulties. With hard work and some luck, he rose to the US Senate. I admire what he has accomplished and I hope that his stay on FOX News is only a temporary one. I disagree with Scott on some of the issues, but I respect and admire the man. If he is a candidate for president in 2016, I believe that he would be a stronger candidate than Chris Christie. By coincidence, I am currently reading the book, Chris Christie: The Inside Story of His Rise to Power by Bob Ingle and Michael G. Symons. I’ll report on that book in a future post.
