When they insult President and Michelle Obama or disrespect the office of President, Republicans insist they are not racists. It is because Barack and Michelle are Democrats, not because they are black. When Republicans act to restrict voting rights, it is not because they are against blacks or women or gays or youth or unions or Latinos, it is because those groups tend to vote Democratic. When Republicans vote to restrict reproductive rights, it is not because they are warring on women, it is because they are pro-life. If men could bear children, then Republicans would restrict their reproductive rights too.
With his family by his side, Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th president of the United States by Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr. in Washington, D.C., Jan. 20, 2009. More than 5,000 men and women in uniform are providing military ceremonial support to the presidential inauguration, a tradition dating back to George Washington’s 1789 inauguration. Be bold Barack
Do not compromise with
Those who say no.
They are the small-minded
Purveyors of untruth.
Stretch the possible
Lead us from despair
Yes, you can
Yes, we can
Yes, we will
With your leadership
Anything is possible.
Reprinted from a prior posting. Barack can now afford a bolder course with our help and prayers.

To those expressing dislike of the President and the First Lady, I challenge you to explain your views without cuss words and name calling. If you have logic on your side, you should be able to explain why you so dislike the First Family. If you cannot, you will rightly be accused of racism. Not all opponents of the President are racists, but there is enough closet racism to go around. If you resent being accused of racism, then explain your dislike in rational terms that the rest of us can believe.

Michelle Obama and Ann Romney will be campaigning for their respective spouses. Michelle is the target of some ugly attacks on the web by far-right bloggers. I would welcome the opportunity for Michelle to defend herself and her husband, the President, in a debate with Ann Romney. I think that the ratings would be very high, and that it might be the most interesting debate of them all this fall.
