The Louvre in Paris, France is closed temporarily to protest the number of pickpockets operating within its storied halls. Will it become necessary to shut down the US economy to protest our free market capitalism which I label pickpocket capitalism? Only time will tell.

True Conservative, the movie

True Conservative, the movie is a new release in which the principal role of John Bane is played by the severely conservative Mitt Romney. It features a cast of thousands, mainly “volunteers” from the Mormon church. John Bane’s wife is played by Mitt’s wife Ann.

The film traces Bane’s early life from relative prosperity (his father’s), through missionary work in France, to his present life among America’s super-rich. Bane made his fortune, not by building it, but by restructuring companies and sending American jobs offshore. Bane travels widely among his many homes, but not as widely as his money looking for ways to increase at little or no risk and/or tax consequences. In point of fact, Bane constructed nothing on his own, even himself. Through government loans and bailouts, Bane owes more to the US taxpayer than he ever will acknowledge. The movie runs 3 hours 15 minutes, slightly shorter than Paul Ryan’s time for the marathon. My rating is two thumbs down. I would rate it with more thumbs down, but I only have two.

In my opinion, neither Mitt Romney nor Paul Ryan is qualified and/or ready to be president. Paul Ryan has never had executive experience and he lacks experience in the private sector and he lacks experience outside of Washington. He is neither qualified nor ready to be president. Mitt added him to the ticket for pizzazz and to appeal to the GOP base. Mitt promised us a boring white guy , but only delivered on white and guy. He never promised us a qualified candidate.

Mitt’s time at Bain does not qualify him to be president, only to make money by shipping jobs and his money abroad. Mitt’s 4 years as governor of Massachusetts does give him executive experience in dealing with the legislative process. Mitt gained experience with dealing with education and health care matters while governor. He did not raise taxes, but he raised fees substantially. Mitt has no foreign policy experience and seems to lack all knowledge in that area outside of the 2+ years he spent as a missionary in France. Mitt also is unqualified and not ready to be president.

Phony war?

The GOP claims that the war on women is a phony war. Just like the phony war in the early days of WW2, before Germany rolled around the Maginot Line and steamrolled France and Belgium in a few weeks. Will the GOP war on women be a real phony war or will the GOP try to emulate Germany if they win in November? Please stay tuned.

Drilling for natural gas by means of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a process now banned in France and Germany. If we allow our desire for cheap energy and oil company profits to overrule our concerns for the environment, the price we will pay will be increased illness and death from the chemicals being injected into the ground plus a scarcity of pure drinking water. Humanity can survive without cheap energy, but we can live for only a few hours without drinking water.
