Considering Hate, Violence, Goodness, and Justice in American Culture and Politics by Kay Whitlock and Michael Bronski, published in 2015. In privatization, profit always has a higher priority than the public good. When we privatize prisons, it is in the corporate interest to keep the cells filled. The authors assert that justice is better served when vengeance is not the main goal. It is better to center our efforts on healing all parties involved, the victim, the perpetrator, both families and the community at large. It makes sense to me.
