American Ground Zero, The Secret Nuclear War by Carole Gallagher published in 1993. This could be the most important book that you’ll ever read. It documents some of the effects on people, animals and the environment of the atomic testing at the Nevada Test Site during the 1950s and 1960s. Before I moved to Saint George, Utah, I had never heard the term “downwinders.” Now that I live here, I am researching the term and the effects. Downwinders are people who lived and live east of the Nevada Test Site. Tests were not conducted if the wind would blow the fallout toward Las Vegas or Los Angeles. This is the book that Donald Trump, if elected, should read to answer his question about when he can order the use of nuclear weapons.
