When airlines merge, they always say that consumers will not suffer. Then after the merger is complete, consumers do suffer from higher fares, decreased service and crowded planes. This holiday season is no exception as airlines seek to maximize profits by filling every seat on every plane. Not only will those seats be more expensive, increasingly they will be narrower as airlines seek to squeeze in more passengers. Ultimately I believe that airline passengers will be sprayed with a lubricant on boarding so the flying public will even more closely resemble a can full of sardines.
