Majority Leader, Harry Reid, has written two books that I have read recently. They are Searchlight, The Camp That Didn’t Fail and the more recent The Good Fight, Hard Lessons from Searchlight to Washington. Reid wrote the first book himself about growing up in Searchlight, Nevada and he had the help of Mark Warren in the second book. Both books are interesting and I can recommend them. I found the Searchlight book a bit on the dry side.
Harry Reid believes that the filibuster is an essential part of the US Senate although it does not appear in the Constitution. After the 2012 election, he has promised to reform the filibuster so that the GOP cannot block the Obama agenda as effectively as they did in Barack’s first term. I wish him good luck as the country needs a functioning Congress.
