Both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, or Barack Hussein Obama and Willard Mitt Romney, are good men. In his book, No Apology, Mitt had a few words of praise for Barack in a book that took as its title a phrase critical of the President. The book touted Mitt’s accomplishments as the governor of Massachusetts. In the areas of education and healthcare, I think that he has something to be proud of and to contribute to the national discussion. IF there were a national discussion of the issues.
We know why Barack wants a second term. We do not know why Mitt wants to be president. He has not told us his reasons. I think that he wants to outperform his father who lost the 1968 nomination to Nixon. Unfortunately for Mitt and doubly unfortunate for us, the only available political party to use as a vehicle for Mitt’s ambition is the TEA party dominated GOP. To gain their support, Mitt is saying and doing things that he would not dream of under other circumstances. It is a tragedy. Even more so if Mitt achieves his goal and is elected.
