Genetically modified food

Some people are concerned about the effects genetically modified plants and animals will have on the people who consume genetically modified foods. I share those concerns; however, a more significant concern is how those genetically modified organisms will cope with climate change. Unmodified plants and animals retain recessive genes that may be activated by climate stresses. If genetically modified organisms discard those recessive genes, then what we eat may not be able to survive under different climate conditions. If we modify our food sources for today’s conditions, will they still be available when tomorrow arrives?

  1. Eating organic food is a great step towards a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, many organic fruits and vegetables are a bit more costly. To combat the increased cost, and to ensure that the food you are eating is 100% organic, you may want to start your own organic garden.
