I met Barack Obama at a fundraiser in Park City, Utah on August 5, 2007. Less than 24 hours before, a friend of his working at the US headquarters of UBS, the huge Swiss bank, had called and told him that the Great Recession was beginning. I saw no sign on August 5 that Barack was worried about the economy.
