I understand that Alaska is very beautiful. My wife and son cruised the inside passage about 9 years ago. I was unable to accompany them because we were moving.

You’re definitely right. But Alaska is actually encased in ice shields. So a lot of people go there to escape. Plus the whale watching is beautiful. Who gets tired of whale songs?

BTW – Government is not the only way people can work together. Even with our big humongous government, voluntarily associations are still rather commonplace.

Walt – Since when does a constitutional republic equate to no government?

What I support is a government that protects people’s rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What I see you supporting is a government that gives people their rights. The former is a limited government that acknowledges the right of individual to run his or her own life. The latter — because it places no inherent limits on the power of state — inevitably makes the people the property of the state.

Government is us acting together for the betterment of us all. No work together equals no government. Even the most die-hard opponents of government want government to provide for national defense. There is just no way to get away from it, unless you want to live alone on a deserted island. Humans are social creatures. In prison, the most dreaded punishment is solitary confinement, I’m told.

Walt – Think about what you are saying. If you fool people into thinking you are not talking about Obamacare, they like it? And that proves what?

Frankly, when they think the masses are stupid and ignorant, I don’t understand why Liberals want a majoritarian tyranny. Why would anybody want people they think fools to select leaders who can lord over them?

Anyway, I don’t pretend to have the wisdom to select leaders qualified to exercise so much power. And when I consider my neighbors, I don’t think they do either. Therefore, I wish you and others of the same mind were content to run your own lives. If you have to save the world, try doing it the only way that has been proven to work, one person at a time with the gifts of your own time and money (not with what you stole from somebody else).
