Some Americans have long profited from the misery of others. When we were expanding to the Pacific exercising our Manifest Destiny, some traders sold firearms and firewater to the Indians. When the Native Americans used the firearms in self-defense or to murder pioneer families, often under the influence of the firewater, the sellers denied all responsibility. Today sellers of guns that the drug cartels purchase continue in that long American tradition of weapon sales. Even the US government allows defense contractors to sell their wares worldwide, all in the name of protecting American jobs. I want Americans to have well-paying jobs, but not at the expense of death and misery elsewhere in the world.
